About the DHH Logo

The design draws on the historic colours of the Hunters Hill Municipality Coat of Arms and the community spirit which was such a strong feature of the Save Hunters Hill campaign of 2003.

What everyone remembers from that successful campaign were the streamers in the colours of red, green, blue, yellow and white tied to gates, fences and trees outside resident's homes as shown in the image below.

The design captures that spirit, by use of the "swash" and those historic colours.

Hunters Hill also has a strong geographic identity, being a peninsula in Sydney Harbour bounded by the Lane Cove River to the north and the Parramatta River to the south.

These rivers are represented by the blue "swashes" at the top and bottom of the logo.

Between these two lies green, yellow and red "swashes" and white. The green for our trees, bush and parks, and the red symbolic of the earth and our beginnings before white settlement. The yellow represents the local sandstone seen in the many early stone houses and buildings. The surrounding white is for the community spirit that protects our values, heritage and independence.

The logo thus embodies Hunters hill's strong community spirit, its natural and cultural values and geographic position in Sydney Harbour.

The Logo was designed by Brian Langford, committee member of the Discover Hunter's Hill association.
