THE NSW State Budget had a remaining shelf-life of 10 months, Lane Cove State Liberal MP Anthony Roberts said.
Mr Roberts, the Opposition spokesman for Volunteering, the Arts and Citizenship, said NSW voters had heard the State Government’s budget promises on 15 occasions.
``Labor’s budgets are big on promises but always fail to deliver,’’ Mr Roberts told the Northern District Times this morning.
``This is a State Budget that fails to tackle the big issues to make NSW number one again.
``It is a Budget which exposes the years of lost opportunity under Labor, who have squandered years of record revenues and failed to plan for the future.
``This is a State Budget with a shelf life of 10 months.
``It’s been cobbled together to get Labor through the next election.
``And that’s all.’’
The 2010-11 Budget cut $700 million from infrastructure, from $62.9 billion to $62.2 billion over the next four years, Mr Roberts, who attended Saint Ignatius’ College, Riverview, said.
``This means less money for hospital, roads and public transport.’’
He said the NSW Liberal-National Coalition Opposition welcomed the government’s decision to slash payroll tax.
``But NSW still has the highest payroll tax burden of any state 0.5 per cent above the rates in both Queensland and Victoria,’’ Mr Roberts, who worked in the office of former Prime Minister John Howard between 1996 and 2003, said.
The NSW State Election is on Saturday, March 26, 2011.
