Forgotten photos found in steel box

Just as the Hunters Hill Club prepares for its 110th birthday celebrations (1900-2010), an original steel box was unearthed in a storeroom marked ‘Hunters Hill Recreation Club 1900’.
Obviously unseen for many years, locals will be able to search great grandparents and relatives from the 1930s to 1980s from many well preserved black and white photos and original documents.
This photo (left) reminds us of an era of elegant hat and fur attired ladies at a 1950’s bowling event.
Others identify a forgotten original timber clubhouse built between the upper and lower bowling rinks.
Members have no recall of any clubhouse between the upper and lower greens.
The club has a gala 110th anniversary party planned for Saturday evening July 17 which will include a major collage of the photos and memorabilia until the end of July. Also on display will be a photo of TWT Managing Editor John F. Booth with hat, circa 1968.
